for 1962 studebakers larks were restyled, with more flowing lines that featured altered body creases and rear deck, a mercedes-style square grille, dual headlights and round taillights. The new daytonas had special wide side moldings with the model name on them. Their sporty appointments included a front console, contoured seats (with bucket seats up front), color-keyed interiors, walnut-grain instrument panel and pile carpeting. The hardtop had a sunroof. For 1963 a four-door station wagon joined the daytona lineup.
performance potential
the lark daytona came with a choice of a six-cylinder or v8 engine. The standard v8 engine was 259 cu. In., but there was also an optional 289-cu.-in. One that, with optional four-barrel-carburetor power pack, brought hp up to 225.
for an economy model only 184 in. Long, this offered the prospect of excellent performance. Introduced for 1962 as a convertible or hardtop coupe, the lark daytona was studebakers sportiest model. |
