| | About vehicle Roomy sedans
the mainstays of the twelve line were its six-window sedans and four-window sports sedans, although a coupe was offered the first year and a tourer during 1934-36 and again for 1947. The sedans wheelbase increased from 105 to 112 in. For 1935, bringing the rear seat to a position ahead of the axle and thereby enhancing comfort. The lower, more streamlined sports sedan adopted the longer wheelbase for 1937. A popular rover feature was freewheeling, which allowed clutchless gearshifting when the foot was lifted from the accelerator.
remodeled for 1937
the twelve entered its classic period for 1937 with front fenders wider and longer, coming down almost to the front bumper. The sedans now received the bigger trunk of the sports sedans, with the spare tire in an interior compartment rather than on the outside. Twelve different interiors were in polished wood and soft leather. The rear track was widened 2 in. For 1940 to provide more room for rear passengers, and antiroll bars were added to the suspension. Probably no more than 150 of these sporty-looking 1934-36rover twelve tourers were built. |
