| | About vehicle Light, fleet and funky
the new carrera was based on the 91 is, but it sported a 2.7-litre engine. The car was offered in three different versions: Rs (rennsporf) for racing or touring; Rst, specifically designed for touring; And rsr, built for uncompromising competitive performance. The 2.7rs represented porsches desire to construct a car intended for racing, but not so stripped that it could not be modified for popular purchase. Never shying from the outrageous, however, porsches designers styled the rs to sport a large rear spoiler, the biggest used on a production car up to that time. The spoiler was the sort of addition considered novel or exciting in the early seventies, a period of garish body colors and a proliferation of stylized exterior graphics.
the carrera comet
blazing along at 155 mph, the carrera 2.7 made its mark as the fastest 911 in the porsche stable, turbo or no turbo. Speed was achieved by
building the car with as much plastic and aluminum as was structurally feasible. Like porsches successful 917 can am, the carrera was equipped with ventilated disc brakes. Familiar 91 is lines were coupled with a light body, a 2.1-litre engine, and that big rear spoiler to create the carrera 2.irs, porsches road version of a car designed for competition and popular motoring. |
