Zero to 60 in four seconds
the rear-mounted, twin-turbocharged, flat-six engine was developed from the one used in 956 and 962 race cars. With a power output of 450 hp (650-700 hp in competition form), it takes the 959 to almost 200 mph, with zero-to-60 mph acceleration in only about four seconds. The first turbo is for low speed, the second kicks in at 4,400 rpm. Suspension firmness and ride height are automatically adjusted for speed.
sport and comfort
the body, composed mainly of aramid and kevlar over a steel shell, looks somewhat like the 911 turbo, but with a smoother front, wraparound rear spoiler and running board sills below the aluminum doors for reduced drag. In
addition to the light sport 959, there was a comfort version with power windows, electrically adjustable front seats and air conditioning.
