| | About vehicle Full-length sportiness
the pontiac grand prix was built on the 120-in.-wheelbase platform of the catalina series but with the trim and engine of the higher-end bonneville series. For 1963 the sides were stripped of chrome but gained a full-length crease. The recessed split grille was wider and flanked by quad headlights arranged in vertical pairs. The vertically stacked taillights were partly hidden by grilled panels. Only the grand prix received the unusual concave rear window. Interior appointments included bucket seats.
plenty of power
the grand prixs standard engine was a 389-cu.-in. V8 with a four-barrel carburetor and 303 hp, but two others were available on the same block: A low-compression version for automatic transmission only and a high-compression one
with three two-barrel carbs. A few grand prix were equipped with pontiacs new 421-cu.-in. V8, including the extrajuiced super-duty version; Which could be had over the counter and yielded up to 410 hp The stylish 1963 pontiac grand prix turned heads with bonneville luxury and power on a sleek if slightly shorter, body. |
