| | About vehicle Some run on methanol
along with its slightly sportier dodge spirit twin, the plymouth acclaim made its debut in 1989 as a frontwheel-drive model with conservative styling. Its base engine was, and has remained, a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder, with a 3-litre mitsubishi-built v6 available as an option. A 152hp turbocharged version of the four-cylinder was discontinued after 1992. But a limited number of acclaims and spirits are being offered to fleet buyers as the worlds first passenger cars adapted for flexible-fuel operation, their four-cylinder engines to operate on as much as 85 percent methanol.
some modest changes
for 1993, the acclaim was given a new grille and taillights, as well as a stainless-steel exhaust system. A useful option for its many family owners is a front bench seat that raises passenger
capacity to six. At about $12,000, the acclaim is still excellent value for the money. The plymouth acclaim is a midsized sedan that offers excellent value for its price. It is available as a four- or six-cylinder model. |
