Packard Super Eight - 1933-1936

In the early thirties, packard was probably the best-known american luxury car manufacturer in the world. But its supremacy faltered in 1934 when it faced two battles: Competition from cadillac and gm on one front, and a sputtering economy on the other. Following the hard times brought on by the crash in 1929. Packard struggled until the introduction of an eight-cylinder car in 1935.

About vehicle
Personality change the super eight was one of three models in packards 1934 lineup: Eight, super eight and twelve. The super eight used an in-line eight-cylinder engine that had first appeared in 1927 and was fed by a two-chamber carburetor. Buyers could select from a number of chassis: The super eight was offered in three lengths, the shortest seating six and the longest reserved for limousines and custom-designed models. pure packard the super eights subdued yet richly appointed body was pure packard. In 1937, the eight and super eight were combined into one model. The brake system changed from cables to hydraulic assist, and the addition of an independent front suspension served to revive interest in the super eight. Its lowered price $2,335 instead of $2,990 made the packard pure popularity.
The 1935 super eight included rear doors. Packard continued to make versions of its big straight-eight and v12 autos until world war ii.
