| | About vehicle Ultracompact coupe
the ogle firm had been designing bodies (notably for reliant) before turning out the mini sx1000, an ultracompact fastback coupe with a wheelbase of only 80 in. The body was made of fiberglass and had a favorable aerodynamic coefficient, thereby reducing wind drag. Powered by the one-litre, four-cylinder engine of the mini-cooper, which was being built under license from the british motor corp., it was a little faster than its sister model.
only 80 produced
production of the mini sx1000 came to only 80 before bmc decided it was no longer interested in supplying mechanical parts. Under ogles successor, tom karen, the company returned to designing by styling the reliant scimitar. The company has also been responsible for such design exercises as the robin, the three-wheeled bug, the sotheby special and project 2000, a small family car of the future. Ogle has also
designed and produced prototype electric taxis and bus, truck and ambulance bodies, as well as nonautomotive products such as office equipment. Small in size and small in production, the ogle mini sx1000 had a wheelbase of only 80 in. Production was limited to the same figure. |
