| | About vehicle not invented here
realizing the problem, at the start of the fifties the nash management approached no less a stylist than pinin farina and asked him to build them two prototypes. The not invented here brigade at nash completely redesigned pinin farinas proposals, and only a few vestiges found their way into production on the 1952 nash range. Indeed, cynics claimed that the only surviving pinin farina touch was the coachbuilders emblem on the bodyside!
shrouded wheels
the newr nashes owed their more square-cut profile to the italian coachbuilder, but they retained the shrouded wheels that remained a feature of the marque right up to the end. The curious pressed panel imitating an armrest below the windows was another addition by nashs nih brigade; It also appeared on the little
metropolitan. Despite the redesign, the nash looked more than ever like the archetypal dads car, with a roomy body and reliable powertrain more important than sporty characteristics. Still recognizably a nash, the 1952 range had nevertheless been retouched by pinin farina. |
