About vehicle
Racing blood the first s models were designed as factory racing cars and, in their first year, finished 1-2-3 in the 1927 german grand prix at nurburgring. But the factory-bodied open tourer and other versions were known among nonracers as unparalleled four-passenger sports cars. The s also came in early and late-version open tourer and cabriolet styles. In all models, the s was distinguished by its long hood, gradually sloping running boards and the trademark star perched on its ships-prow grille.classy chassis under the hood, pleasure awaited those who could afford it. A six-cylinder, 6.8-liter, single-overhead-cam engine was boosted in 1928 to 225 hp by a supercharger and was fed by dual carburetors. To cushion the rocketship ride, the front suspension had a solid axle with leaf springs. The low-slung rear suspension had a straight axle, also with leaf springs. Unlike previous mercedes models, the type s was no high-performance luxury car, but a true sports car, brutal but efficacious.
The mercedes type s was the high-performance car of its day.
