Mazda 757 - 1986-1987 | 
| Mazda began participating in the prestigious le mans 24-hour endurance race in 1973, fielding cars with the wankel rotary engine, which was also used in some of its production cars. a mazda subsidiary called mazdaspeed was formed in 1983 to supervise mazdas racing activities. In 1986 nigel stroud designed mazdas first trirotor model, the 757. It had a chassis of honeycomb aluminum and a carbon-fiber body, and it greatly resembled the porsche 962. Like earlier mazda racing cars, it bore a wide rear wing.

the 757s first venture into world championship competition was at silverstone, england, where it finished 16th. Two 757s qualified at le mans, but both retired with breaks of the transmission input shaft. At fuji they finished 13th and 15th. The 757cs that were run in 1987 were virtually unchanged. Entered in the imsa-gt class, they ranked only 27th and 28th in the le mans trials.
