| | About vehicle Dual camshafts
maseratis first roadgoing machine, the a61500, was succeeded by the larger-engined a6g in 1951. That model is sometimes classified as the first version of the a6g2000, but the one first presented in 1954 (and sometimes called the a6g54) had a different six-cylinder engine based on the agcs, a sports-car racer. This engine had dual camshafts and, with three twin-barrel carburetors, generated 165 hp.
a variety of bodies
allemanos a6g2000 coupes were rather sober for a fast sports car. Zagato made a single slab-sided spyder and a number of light-bodied coupes, several of which successfully took part in italian gt competition. Frua made both coupes and spyders. The spyders had a wraparound windshield, a hood stripe in a second color, bodyside stripes just below the
door handles and a recessed oval grille bearing the maserati trident. All a6g2000s except the frua coupes had rear seats for occasional use. This frua-bodied spyder is one of only 59 maserati a6g2000 sports cars produced. It had a top speed of about 188 mph. |
