the lotus 23 adopted the design of the lotus 22 formula junior one-seater, and it usually carried, rear-mounted, the same 1.1-litre, four-cylinder ford anglia 105e engine with cosworth rocker arms. Like the lotus 22, it had a steel multitubular spaceframe chassis, but as a two-seater it was wider, with front suspension by double wishbones and coil springdamper units. The rear suspension was similar to that of lotus formula one cars, with lower wishbones and top links, parallel radius arms and coil springsdampers.
