| | About vehicle Narrow vee engine
like its big sisters, the little lancia had a narrow-angle vee engine, monocoque bodywork and sliding-pillar independent front suspension. It was, wrote bradley, undoubtedly...the most interesting of the light cars in the show.... the augusta was well constructed, and its excellent road manners light, accurate steering and an easy-to-handle gearshift compelled its purchasers to overlook its relatively high price and austere interior.
immediate success
there was nothing but praise for the augusta, whichwas an immediate success. The factory sedan, with its well-designed fenders and spacious cabin, was handsome enough, but lancia also supplied a special platform chassis
to coachbuilders for custom bodywork. The augusta was built in france under the name belina in a factory constructed specifically to accommodate its production. The aprilia that followed was an even better car. Though the augusta was lancias first venture into small cars, a special chassis platform permitted the construction of special bodies like this farina cabriolet |
