| | About vehicle Beauty and the beast
the car was startlingly beautiful, creating a sensation with its introduction at the 1966 geneva auto show. Innovative pop-up headlights rested just beneath long, swooping fenders, and teardrop mirrors balanced on the front edges of the cars long doors. Like many supercars, the interior was simple, cramped and even hard, but all the necessities were there: Five-speed stick, drilled steering wheel and daredevils take note a fire extinguisher strapped to the passenger seat.
magic in the middle
beneath the miuras sleek beauty lay its secret: A twelve-cylinder, 385hp, transverse, midmount engine the first of its kind. Other auto makers rushed to copy the design, admiring the effect on balance and handling. Few were able to drive the miura, though, without at least a little fear. The stiff suspension rattled the cabin (and the driver), the engine noise was deafening, and until some design changes were made for safety, axles broke under the incredible torque of this
four-liter, 171mph monocoque monster, and brakes failed under loads from its exhilarating high speeds. The miuras midmount engine set a standard for sutiprrars cinlv qofl miiims uvw hi nt hntthpirhoendarv
