| | About vehicle Raising the roof
at the eleventh hour, the decision was made to raise the rooflines of the new kaiser models to make them more habitable. Dutch darrin cried foul but he was wrong: The modification had the effect of lowering the cars beltlines, creating unexpected elegance. The 1953 line included the kaiser dragon, its faux-hardtop padded with rich, pleated bambu vinyl that was introduced on halloween of 1952.
grand style
interior details were also conceived in what kaiser modestly defined as the grand style, with bambu vinyl edging the seats and facing the padded instruments panel; Insert panels on the seats were done in rich-patterned marie nichols contemporary fabrics. hood ornaments
and script were gold-plated, and each car included a gold-clad medallion bearing the owners name. in june 1955, american production of kaiser cars was stopped. The bodytooling wras then shipped to argentina, where cars were built for another seven years. Custom designed for presentation at the 1953 concours delegance at cannes.
