| | About vehicle Better all the time
for the new model, jaguar rolled out a number of stunning deluxe features: Wire wheels, dual exhaust and a c-type valve cylinder head. Always quiet and smooth, the engine now positively purred, and the new exhaust system was silent in contrast to the typical crackle of its day. Whether it was the close-ratio gearbox or the confident rack-and-pinion steering, jaguar made steady improvements in the state of the art. A keen attention to detail the finish, fittings, immaculately upholstered leather seats and matching instrument panel separated this perennial favorite from the also-rans.
on the road again
the xk 140 was reliable in traffic, but it was exhilarating on the open road. It could cover a standing quarter-mile in 16.6 seconds and cruise comfortably at 100 mph, the double-overhead-cam six-cylinder engine with twin su carburetors
providing the necessary power. If history belongs to the swift, the jaguar certainly has posterity on its side. The jaguar xk 140 was designed to accommodate three different bodies: Cabriolet, roadster or coupe (as shown) |
