| | About vehicle Engine innovation
mounted on rubber blocks to reduce vibration, hudsons 213.cs-cubic-inch, 80hp l-head powerplant used the heated exhaust manifold to preheat the air going to its eight cylinders making combustion smoother and more consistent. The great eight also had an innovative valveless oil pump, which greatly improved lubrication and extended the life of the engine. Though no more powerful than the 1929 hudson super-six that had preceded it, the great eight bodies were reduced from 1425 to 875 pounds, improving the cars overall performance.
