Gordon-keeble - 1964-1967

Designed by john gordon and jim keeble, the gordon-keeble was a 2 + 2 coupe combining a british chassis, italian styling and a corvette v8 engine. In theory, this combination was a winner. But the company was unable to meet its goal of producing and selling three cars per week, and the venture soon failed. The best-maintained of the 100 or so made now fetch at least $80,000.

About vehicle
Multitubular chassis the gordon-keeble was provided with an essentially handbuilt chassis composed of one-in. Square-section tubes, with plastic foam filled in for insulation. Suspension was by coil springs, independent in front with a rear de dion axle. The 300hp 5.4-litre engine propelled the car to a maximum of 136 mph, fast enough to challenge similar ferrari sports cars. Power brakes and windows were standard equipment.corrosion-free body the gordon-keebles attractive body design by giorgio giugiaro featured angled quad round headlights, a wide crosshatched grille, a hood air scoop and large rear quarter windows. The body was made of fiberglass, which may have been why the model failed to sell despite an attractive price. The bodys consequent freedom from corrosion in the moist british climate helps account, however, for its present popularity as a collectible car.
The gordon-keeble was a very fast sports coupe with an attractive body, but the venture was underfinanced, and the car did not sell.
