| | About vehicle Too light for the engine
this larger type 23 engine was installed in a chassis like the one used by the f2 cars except that the torsion bars were smaller and there was a front antiroll bar. The five tl6 cars were the lightest racing cars in fl competition and were prone to breakages of the rear axle. Gordini considered the model merely a stopgap while searching for the money to field a new eight-cylinder model.
respectable results
in spite of these problems, the tl6 got off to a promising start when jean behra won the grand prix at pau. Behra was second and another tl6 driver third in the international trophy race at silvers tone, and behra was third in the bari and caen grand prix. These were nonchampionship
events, however, and behra left the team later that season. As time went on the cars constantly retired with transmission trouble, although the tl6 was still good enough to win the 1956 naples grand prix and finish second in the caen event. This gordini type 16 one-seat racing car was one of the five built to compete in formula one when grand prix racing returned in 1954. |
