About vehicle
Personal and practical named for a mythological american indian figure that brought rain and fertility, the thunderbird introduced at the 1954 detroit auto show wasnt a purists sports car: It featured the straight lines, power brakes and steering and automatic transmission that characterized the entire ford family. But the t-bird made its fashion statement with its eggcrate grille, long-hoodshort-deck proportions, large round taillights topped by small chrome triangles and, by 1959, its blade-like tailfins. Best of all was its speed: The birds burly v8 engine made the loomph barrier a breeze to break. bye-bye love in its first year, 1955, the t-bird outsold the competing corvette by nearly 24 to 1. Detroit wanted even bigger volumes, so the 1958 models became square four-seaters with longer chassis. gone was the twro-seater, but those cool early birds still cruise memory lane.
