About vehicle
Bare bones the model t was the 20th letter in a series (starting with the model a), but it was the last that ford would build in almost as many years. The key to its success lay in its rugged simplicity. The chassis resembled the frame of a horse-drawn w7agon. The 176-cu.-in., four-cylinder, 20hp motor didnt even have an oil pump. Instead, with every engine revolution, oil was scooped out of a pan under the crankcase and distributed over the moving parts. and a putt-putt here the simple design made the model t (affectionately nicknamed tin lizzie ) affordable for the masses, and its starting price, $280, was relatively low. Fords vertical integration made the difference: He kept costs down by using coal from his own mines and steel from his mills. The ford assembly line was able to turn out a tin lizzie every two minutes. Only the vw bug surpassed the model ts rate of production. In a span of only 19 years, henry ford had put america on wheels.
This 1923 model t ford black of course sported a few modernized features, but it still had to be started up with a crank.
