About vehicle
A rare specimen available as a two-door sedan or hardtop, the 427 was very hard to come by. To enable the fairlane to compete in drag-racing events, 70 427s were built in 1966. Production was upped to slightly under 200 in 1967, the last year the 427 was offered by ford. With so few of these cars made, they are highly prized by muscle-car enthusiasts. at the track if it was difficult to obtain a 427, it certainly wasnt hard to read about one. Mario andretti drove one to win the daytona 500 in 1966, the same year a 427 piloted by parnelli jones snagged the checkered flag for the motor trend 500.
For easier access to the engine, the 427s fiberglass hood comes completely off after four tie-down pins are removed
