Among the models that it presented during the last years of prosperity before the great depression was the 520, which promised a degree of luxury at an affordable price for a middle-class clientele. First lefthand-drive fiat
traditional in mechanics, the fiat 520 had fourwheel mechanical brakes and semi-elliptic leaf-spring suspension over live (power-transmitting) axles, both front and rear, coupled to friction dampers. Its coil ignition was inspired by american cars. The automobiles side-valve 2.2-litre, 46hp six-cylinder engine was new. This was the first fiat with standard lefthand drive instead of the steering wheel on the right.

the 520, equipped with artillery wheels, was offered as a two-seater or tourer, coupe, sedan or limousine. The coupes and sedans were available with either a fixed or detachable top. All these bodystyles had a high-quality finish.
