| | About vehicle An alfa for the masses
but italy was italy, a country where a race like the mille miglia could pass by ones veiy front door, so in 1933 fiat followed tradition and brought out a sporting derivative of the ballila with glorious sporting bodywork by such famous coachbuilders as ghia of turin and zagato. With its flowing fenders and a dorsal fin on its rounded trunk, the new 508 s had all the allure of an alfa in miniature.
best in its class
most often fitted with two-seater sports bodywork, the 508 s was also seen in sports sedan guise, in which form it raced in the 1933 mille miglia. One year later, fiat developed the 508 s with an overhead-valve cylinder head and a close-ratio gearbox. The 508 s was one of the
best small sports cars of its day, with racing victories all over europe to prove its capabilities. With refined coachbuilt bodywork, the fiat 508 s was a typical small italian sports car. |
