| | About vehicle Boxy sedan
the original fiat was a boxy sedan on a 95-in. Wheelbase with a wide rectangular horizontal-bar grille and 1.2-litre engine. A station wagon was soon added. For 1968 the engine was expanded to 1.4 liters; Later it grew in size again to 1.6 litres. In 1969 the sedans front end was changed, with quad headlights and parking lights that were integrated into the front bumper. A four-speed manual gearbox was standard, but automatic transmission became an option by 1972.
sporty coupe and convertible
a two-seat pininfarina-designed spider convertible and 2 + 2 sport coupe joined the 124 series in 1967, with a twin-overhead-cam, 1.4-litre engine. The spider, which had a low, wide grille, 90-in. Wheelbase and five-speed gearbox,
was the fastest 124, capable of reaching 109 mph. Later the spidercoupe engine grew, first to 1.6 and later to 1.8 litres, and automatic transmission became optional. The fiat 124 sedan was roomy, fast, light and economical. A coupe, convertible and station wagon were also produced. |
