| | About vehicle The ferrari 625
in september, 1951, the ferrari 625 made its debu with an aluminum-sheet bodyshell over a welded-tube ladder-type chassis and a 2.5-litre, twin-cam four-cylinder engine. It finished third in its first race, despite competing against cars with much bigger engines. There was no formula one world championship in 1952 or 1953 because no manufacturer wanted to compete against the ferrari 375 v12. When fl championship competition returned in 1954, engines were limited in size to 2.5 litres. During 1954-55 the 625 was not quite good enough to match the mercedes-benz w196, but it won eight races, three of them championship events.
the ferrari 500
the two-litre ferrari 500 also made its debut in september 195.1, winning a race in modena, italy. F2 racing received world championship status during 1952-53, and the 500 responded by
winning 30 of the 33 races it entered. These were ferraris first world titles, and alberto ascari became the first driver to win consecutive world championships. With no f2 racing in 1954, all the 500 cars had their engines expanded to 2.5 litres and were reclassified as 625s. The ferrari 500 dominated formula two racing competition during 1952-53, winning consecutive world championships. |
