About vehicle
Basic transportation prototypes of the proposed 2 cv were made with steel fenders, but with a platform and doors of duralinox a light alloy for reduced weight. A canvas top ran from the windshield to the bottom of the trunk. The hammock seats, also in duralinox, hung from the roof. The doors could only be opened by lifting an interior strap. The car had no self-starter, relying instead on a front crank. There was only one headlight and one hand-operated windshield wiper. The engine was a 375cc flat two-cylinder. only three survivors about 250 prototypes had been built by may 1939. The model was to be presented at the paris show that fall, but world war ii broke out in september. All but three were scrapped. The one to be exhibited in paris was kept by the factory. The two others were recovered after the war in central france and are nowr in a museum.
Tide citroen 2 cv prototype was a basic model intended for french country people, many of whom only had bicycles or horsecarts.
